Notes, Announcements & Reflections

Hello!

It seems as though there aren't many remarkable things going on in the natural world right now.  We have just two reports this week.  I haven't seen much of anything in spite of being on the road several days in the past week.

Each time we have snow on the ground I get a little more excited about winter.  The ground is often crunchy under my feet during morning chores.

Keep your eyes and ears open.  Something's bound to happen!

Saturday, November 4  Rangeley (Map 28)
Watched a red fox hunting in  my yard this morning for mice. It was a pretty good show, and learned  a lot watching. He finally moved  across to another field and after a couple jumps , I saw him tossing about a meadow vole.  Nothing like
sitting with your morning coffee, watching the neighbors eat.  KB

Tuesday, November 7  Waite  (Map 35)
There was a male spruce grouse on the side of Old Mill Road this morning.  He was displaying and looking quite handsome.  He watched something off the side of the road.  All I was able to see was a red squirrel minding its own business on a fallen tree.  RF
