Robin's Thoughts and Rambles

Hello!

I owe FG of Pembroke a big apology.  I realized this morning I hadn't credited him for his beautiful photos of the Mourning Cloak butterfly and the Autumn Meadowhawk dragonfly in last week's edition.  I apologize!  I've corrected this in the archive.

Don't forget to burn your clocks back this weekend.  "Turn your clocks back" sounds odd in today's modern world.  There are far more digital clocks to change with a push of a button rather than truly turning the hour hand back.  As an early riser I'll be glad to have the sun up an hour earlier but don't look forward to an earlier sunset.  It's not so bad though.  In two short months the days will start to get longer.

I'm going to work on restoring the webcams. If you have a favorite webcam related to Maine nature you'd like me to list please let me know.  I'll need the url so that I can find it easily.

Have a good week!

Sincerely,

Robin Follette

A chance step outside for the dog and I saw the glow. "That's funny, I haven't seen a glow over there, and  it's too long after sunset." I grabbed my camera and took some shots of a very orange aurora. It was very dim, but an exposure of a minute
and you could see the color. KB

More deer are coming to the farm to eat now. They've discovered raspberry bushes and two more apple trees. While checking on the garden today I heard two of something moving through the dried leaves in the woods.  One stayed in front of me and the other moved to my left.  I hoped it was a doe and fawn.  I stood still and listened carefully, heart beating faster, hoping, looking, waiting.  Off to my left - a partridge walked into the clearing on its way to the apple tree.  Maybe next time.  RF
